Itinerary for North Sikkim Tour with Gangtok
(Siliguri – Gangtok – Lachen – Gurudongmar Lake – Lachung – Yumthang – Gangtok – Siligur
Day 1: NJP Railway Station/Siliguri/Bagdogra Airport to Gangtok.
Upon your arrival at New Jalpaiguri Railway Station/Siliguri/Bagdogra Airport, one of the representatives of Corners of Earth shall meet you and will take you to Gangtok (5,480 ft.). After hotel check-in at Gangtok, you can explore the capital city of Sikkim on your own. Overnight stay at Gangtok.
Day 2: Gangtok sightseeing.
After breakfast, we will head for a sightseeing tour of the Gangtok city. The places of interest that will be part of the tour shall include Tashi view point, Ganesh Tok and Hanuman Tok. We will also take you to the Rumtek Monastery, Banjhakri Falls, Institute of Tibetology, Orchid House, Enchey Monastery, Do-drul Chorten, etc. During the evening time, you may explore the shops at MG Marg for shopping or can enjoy Sikkimese cuisines at the restaurants nearby. Overnight stay at Gangtok.
Day 3: Gangtok to Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir and back.
After breakfast, we will proceed to visit Tsomgo Lake. The lake, situated at an altitude of 12,400 feet, is one of the highest altitude lakes in Sikkim. Next, we will go to Baba Mandir. You may also visit the Nathula Pass if you manage to get a permission to visit this place. However, most of the time the route remains closed. After the day’s trip, we will come back to Gangtok and will drop you at your hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 4: Gangtok to Lachen.
Early in the morning, we shall start our journey for Lachen, a small town in North Sikkim. Tourists who visit Chopta Valley and Gurudongmar Lake make Lachen as their base. On our way towards Lachen, we will stop at Chungthang, the place where two rivers – Lachen Chu and Lachun Chu meet. We will also stop at Bhim Nala waterfalls on our way. After reaching Lachen, we will transfer you to your hotel. During the afternoon time, you may explore this beautiful place on your own. Overnight stay at Lachen.
Day 5: Lachen to Gurudongmar followed by a drive towards Lachung.
Early in the morning, we will take you to the Gurudongmar Lake through Thangu Village and Chopta Valley. The journey shall take you through some of the world’s highest roads offering splendid views of this part of India. Gurudongmar Lake, located at an altitude of 17,143 feet is one of the highest lakes in the world. The lake is considered to be a sacred one by both Buddhists and Sikhs. Besides the lake there is a temple named Sarva Dharma Sthal which means a temple for all religions. It is believed that Guru Padmasambhava, the founder of Tibetan Buddhism visited this place during the 8th century. Devotee tourists as well as army personnel offer prayer at this temple. After the tour, we will again go back to your hotel at Lachen. After hotel check-out, we will move towards Lachung, another small beautiful himalayan town located at the confluence point of Lachen and Lachung rivers. For tourists, Lachung acts as the base for Yumthang visits. Overnight stay at Lachung.
Day 6: Lachung to Yumthang followed by a drive towards Gangtok.
Early in the morning, we will drive towards the Yumthang Valley, also known as Flower Valley in Sikkim. During the winter months, the beautiful valley remains covered with snow, while, during the month of April and May one may witness full bloomed dhododendrons in the valley. On our way towards Yumthang, we will visit Sulphur Hot Spring. After the tour, we will come back to Lachung where you will be served your lunch. Post hotel check-out at Lachung, we will drive to Gangtok. Overnight stay at Gangtok.
Day 7: Gangtok to NJP Railway Station/Siliguri/Bagdogra Airport.
After breakfast, we will start our journey for Siliguri and will drop you at your desired location. Over here, your memorable Sikkim trip with Corners of Earth shall end.
