Itinerary for Roopkund Lake Trek Package – Trek to Roopkund
The Roopkund Lake Trek Package of Corners of Earth will take you to an altitude of 16,499 feet in the Himalayas where you will be exploring a Mystery Lake!
If you are a nature lover and have a fascination for the mountains then you should trek to Roopkund Lake at least once in your life. The trek to Roopkund Lake goes through some of the beautiful trekking trails and destinations. The lake is also known as The Mystery Lake and Skeleton Lake as hundreds of human skeletons can be seen near the edge of the lake. Roopkund Lake is a high altitude glacial lake that lies on the lap of the Trishul peak.
Day 1: Arrival at Kathgodam followed by your transfer to a hotel in Lohajung.
The Roopkund Lake Trek Package Tour of Corners of Earth starts from Kathgodam. Upon your arrival at Kathgodam, a representative of Corners of Earth shall meet you and will drive you to Lohajung. Lohajung, a small village in the Garhwal Himalayas serves as the base station for many treks including the trek to Roopkund Lake. After reaching Lohajung, you will be transferred to your camp/guest house for an overnight stay.
Day 2: Lohajung to Tolpani.
On this day of the Roopkund Lake Trek, trekkers’ destination is Tolpani. After breakfast, the 11 km trek to Tolpani shall start. During the initial part of the journey, the Neelganga river shall flow parallelly to the route of the trail. We will first stop at a small village named Didina. From here, you can have a glimpse of the snow covered Nanda Ghunti peak. After spending some time in Didina, we will proceed for Tolpani. At Tolpani, you will spend an overnight in a camp.
Note: On this day, we can also stay at Didina which has a couple of homestays option. The customization shall be done in consultation with the concerned trekker(s).
Day 3: Tolpani to Bedni Bugyal.
This will be one of the best days of your trek to Roopkund. On this day of your Roopkund Lake Trek, you will have to cover a distance of 6 km. We will start early on this day after completing breakfast at Tolpani. The entire trail shall offer majestic views of Nanga Ghunti and Trishuli and you will be going through a few beautiful meadows. On our way, we will cross Ali Bugyal. The trail until Ali Bugyal is quite steep and after that gradual ascent will lead you to your destination of the day, i.e Bedni Bugyal. Overnight stay in a camp in Bedni Bugyal.
Day 4: Bedni Bugyal to Patar Nachauni.
The distance from Bedni Bugyal to Patar Nachauni is around 5 km and it usually can be easily covered in 3-4 hours. At Patar Nachauni, you will be transferred to your camp for an overnight stay.
Day 5: Patar Nachauni to Bhagwabasa.
The 4 km trek distance between Patar Nachauni to Bhagwabasa is one of the steepest of the entire Roopkund Lake Trek Package. We will be crossing the Kalua Vinayak temple on the way. The panoramic views of the snow covered Himalayan peaks which includes Kedarnath, Neelkantha, Chaukhamba, Trishul and Nanda Ghunti from the temple site will leave you spellbound. Overnight stay in a camp at Bhagwabasa.
Day 6: Bhagwabasa to Roopkund Lake and return to Bedni Bugyal.
The trek to Roopkund Lake from Bhagwabasa shall start early in the morning before sunrise as you will have to cover a significant distance on this day. After reaching the Roopkund Lake, we will spend sometime there before coming down to Bedni Bugyal. Overnight stay at Bedni Bugyal.
Day 7: Bedni Bugyal to Lohajung.
The day’s destination is Lohajung. On this day of the Roopkund Lake Trek Package, you will first trek to Wan and then to Kasar Bagad. From Kasar Bagad, we will drive you to Lohagunj. Overnight stay at Lohagunj.
Day 8: Lohajung to Kathgodam.
This will be the last day of your Trek to Roopkund Lake Tour Package of Corners of Earth. On this day, we will drive you to Kathgodam and will drop you at your desired location for your onward journey.
